BRIDGE (a.k.a One ring to rule them all)

BRIDGE is a project that we're following closely. What is it?

BRIDGE aims to revolutionize data interoperability in the global social sector by uniquely identifying all the world’s NGOs in one database.

It's a very important problem and it's good to see that the heavy-hitters Foundation Center, GlobalGiving, GuideStar, and TechSoup Global are all collaborating on it. You can read more about it's goals here.

They just posted an update on MFG. Sounds like some of their infrastructure is set up but the more interesting challenge is the strategy for assigning unique IDs going forward.
